    – a user whose account type is Computer Administrator
*Consult your computer system administrator for details.

Did you make the required “Driver Signing” settings?
In order to install/reinstall drivers, “Driver Signing Options” setting needs to be carried out. If “Driver Signing Options” is not set to “Ignore,” a dialog box appears. If this occurs, refer to following and take the appropriate action.

    Was the driver installed correctly?
If you can’t use the G-70 after installing the driver, some files may not have been installed correctly. See “Reinstalling The Driver”.
If you are still unable to use the device, you may have exceeded the maximum number of MIDI devices that can be installed. See “Have you installed MIDI devices many times”"

Is the G-70 MIDI device name displayed?
If the device name is not displayed, exit all applications that use the G-70, then switch the G-70 off and back on again.
If this does not solve the problem, use the procedure described in “Reinstalling The Driver”.

    16. See “Before you begin,” to perform all settings required for accessing the G-70. The G-70 cannot be used unless these settings are made.

    Cannot select the G-70 device

    Was the driver installed correctly?

Have you installed several MIDI devices?
Windows XP/2000 place a limitation on the number of MIDI devices that can be installed. Even changes from one USB port to another count as “MIDI device installations”. If the limit is exceeded, you cannot use the device even though it may have been installed correctly. This is due to the limitations of the OS. It is not a driver problem.
You may be able to achieve normal operation by uninstalling MIDI drivers, then installing them again.

Did the computer enter standby or sleep mode while the G-70 was connected and switched on?
If the computer entered a standby or sleep mode while the G-70 was connected and switched on, it may not operate correctly. If this occurs, after resuming, first exit all applications that use the G-70, then switch the G-70 off and back on again.

Was the USB cable disconnected and reconnected while the G-70 was in use, or did you switch the G-70 off and on again?
If the USB cable is disconnected and reconnected while the G-70 is in use, or if the G-70 is switched off and on again, it may stop operating correctly. If this occurs, exit all applications that use the G-70, then switch the G-70 off and back on again.

On some computers, if the G-70 is connected while Windows starts up, the driver is not loaded correctly, which may cause USB communication problems between the computer and the G-70.
If this occurs, switch off your computer, restart Windows, and finally switch on (or connect) the G-70.

    Cannot play back/record

    Was the driver installed correctly?

Did you make the settings mentioned in “Before you begin” to enable the G-70 driver?
The G-70 cannot be used unless these settings are made. See “Before you begin.”

Did the computer switch to standby or sleep mode during playback or recording?
If your computer selected standby or sleep mode during playback or recording, the G-70 can no longer communicate with the system. Exit all playback or recording applications, then switch the G-70 off and back on again.

Did you switch the G-70 on/off or disconnect/reconnect the USB cable during playback or recording?
If you switch the G-70 on/off or disconnect/reconnect the USB cable during playback or recording, the G-70 will no longer be able to play back or record. Stop playback or recording, then start it once again. If you are still unable to play back or record, quit all programs that use the G-70, then turn the G-70 off and back on again.

Part of the playback is wrong: e.g., some notes stop prematurely or don’t sound at all

Make the settings shown below to cure the problem.

“Performance Options” settings of the [System Properties]
If you wish to change or verify the settings, see “Performance Options” of the [System Properties].

Such problems may be solved by checking the “Light Load” box.
If you wish to change or verify the settings, see “To change or verify settings.”
*The changes take effect after you switch the G-70 on/off. Unless you experience problems, this box should not be checked.

You are asked for the driver file even though it has already been installed

If you connect the G-70 to a different USB port, you may be asked for the driver file.
This is normal and does not indicate a problem. Use the following procedure to install the driver.

    1. Use a USB cable to connect the G-70 to your computer, then flip the G-70’s POWER switch to the “ON” position.
    2. <Windows 2000>
*If “Driver Signing Options” are not set to “Ignore,” the “Digital Signature Not Found” dialog box appears. If this occurs, refer to “Did you make "Driver Signing” settings?” and take the appropriate action.
*If the “Found New Hardware Wizard” is displayed, refer to “You attempted to install using the above procedure, but were not able to.”

      Proceed to step 3.

      <Windows XP>
*The “Found New Hardware” message is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Wait a moment, please.
      1. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears. Select “Install from a list or specific location,” and click [Next].
*If the “Found New Hardware Wizard” asks you whether you want to connect to Windows Update, choose “No” and click [Next].
      2. Select “Don't search. I will choose the driver to install,” and click [Next].
      3. Make sure that “Roland G-70” is selected in the [Models] field and click [Next].
      4. *If “Driver Signing Options” are not set to “Ignore,” the “Digital Signature Not Found” dialog box appears. If this occurs, refer to “Did you make "Driver Signing” settings?” and take the appropriate action.
    3. In some cases, the “Insert Disk” dialog box may appear. Click [OK].
    4. The “Files Needed” dialog box appears. In the “Copy files from” area, enter the name of the folder that contains the driver and click [OK]. Or click [Browse], in which case the “Locate File” dialog box appears. Specify the folder that contains the driver and click [Open]. Then click [OK].
Example) If the driver is in the “XP2K” folder of drive D, type “D:\XP2K.”
    5. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” dialog box appears. Click [Finish].
    6. The “System Settings Change” dialog box appears. Click [Yes] to restart the computer.

    Others

The “The currently installed Device Driver does not support Plug and Play.” message is displayed.
